STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.– After decades of being banned from marching in Staten Island’s St. Patrick’s Parade, LGBTQ+ groups will finally get to participate.

But it won’t be at the annual St. Patrick’s Parade planned by the the Parade Committee of the Ancient Order of Hibernians already set for March 3.

The Advance/SILive.com has learned that the Forest Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) applied for a permit to have a second parade to celebrate Irish heritage on Forest Avenue on March 17. And sources with knowledge of the process have confirmed the permit was approved, and the parade will be inclusive of all groups.
