Millions of women across the U.S. celebrated on Friday, as President Joe Biden declared the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is now “the law of the land.”
One of those women is Stapleton resident Lorie Honor, who has been tirelessly campaigning alongside many others, to have the ERA made law.
“There are really no words to express how happy I am that decades of work of millions of women are now verified and recognized. Regardless of party, regardless of affiliation, this is the will of the people, and nobody has a right to undermine a constitutional amendment,” said Honor, who is co-founder of Staten Island Women Who March, and chief of staff for Vote Equality, a national organization whose mission is to bring awareness to the fact that gender equality was not in the U.S. Constitution.
